HS2 have demolished the Eagle & Tun, and a few years ago the Fox & Grapes. Other old buildings in the area have been reduced to rubble, such as Island House. Gone, but not forgotten!

At 49 storeys (155m), Octagon is to become the world's tallest pure octagonal skycraper - and it's coming to Paradise Birmingham.
This restoration of the former Belmont Works building dating back to 1899 includes the construction of a 5-storey new-build element for Birmingham City University and STEAMhouse.
The BT Tower is the tallest building in Birmingham. Completed in 1966. Located at 40 Lionel Street in the Jewellery Quarter.
The Orion Building in Birmingham is a 90 metre high residential build located on Navigation Street, Birmingham. Completed in 2007, rooms are designed by fashion designer John Rocha.
Three Brindleyplace, part of the Argent development and completed in April 1998, is a unique build designed by Greek architects Demetri Porphyrios.
Five Brindleyplace is located in a prominent position in Central Square and is part of the Argent development at Brindleyplace. The majority of the build is leased by Deutsche Bank.
Eleven Brindleyplace is a 13-storey office building, designed by Glenn Howells Architects, and completed in 2009, as part of Argent's Brindleyplace development.
The Birmingham REP, as it is commonly known, moved into its Centenary Square in 1971. Since then it has seen a number of refurbishments and extensions as the Square has developed.
The ICC, designed by Percy Thomas, is the city's major conference venue and was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in June 1991. Located between Centenary Square and the Canalside.
The Wesleyan is home to Wesleyan and General Assurance Society. It was built between 1988 to 1991 on the site of the former Gaumont Cinema.
This 250-bed Holiday Inn Express Hotel opened on the Arena Central site in 2017. This is the world famous TETRIS building. Next door to Crowne Plaza an ex Holiday Inn.
Beetham Tower, home to Radisson Blu Hotel, is, at 400 ft, one of the tallest mixed-use towers in the City. A stunning fully glazed build, it is named after the developers Beetham.
The Golden Square is located between Vyse Street and Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter.
'Old Joe' is the tallest free standing clock tower in the world, It is located in Chancellor's Court at the University of Birmingham and was built between 1900 and 1908.
Utilita Arena Birmingham, previously known as Arena Birmingham, is host to many large sports events and concerts with a capacity of 15,800. Arena Birmingham opened in 1991.
Newhall Square is located on Newhall Street in the Jewellery Quarter near the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal.
The Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Centre is situated in Edgbaston, Birmingham on the Pershore Road near Cannon Hill Park. It was formerly called the Birmingham Nature Centre until 2014.
The park was historically the grounds of an 18th Century house called Lightwoods House. It was altered in the 19th Century and is now a Grade II listed building.
The Rotunda Square is situated at Bullring & Grand Central Birmingham. Between High Street and New Street. You will also find the Bullring Bull in the square. Opened in 2003.
The Symphony Hall was opened in Centenary Square in 1991. It is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The foyer was rebuilt between 2019-21.
Old Square is the gateway to the Steelhouse Conservation Area from the Retail BID, between Corporation Street and The Priory Queensway. One of the oldest squares in the City Centre.
Central Square is situated at Brindleyplace in Westside, Birmingham. Surrounded by Two, Three, Four and Five Brindleyplace, with the Costa Coffee Cafe in the middle.
Rookery Park is situated in Erdington, Birmingham on Wood End Road.
Grand Central opened in 2015, a huge shopping and leisure complex, is located above the redeveloped Birmingham New Street. Together these builds have transformed the city centre.
